I have a hard time with many polls especially if as an example there are only 988 respondents.

Many people just don’t answer polls when asked and many couldn’t tell me the capitol of their own state if asked, So really…do I care about their opinions ?

There is something to what you say. Still, those people who don’t know their own state capitals don’t just answer polls. They also vote.
