I’ve noticed this before with homophobes (who also invariably hate women, btw). They’re far more obsessed with gay sex and sex in general than normal people are. They’re obsessed with the notion of other people having it. And the so-cons and theocrats in particular are obsessed with the idea that gay male sex is about some frenzied nonstop orgies of nameless, faceless partners.

I really think they oppose the idea of gay marriage because it runs contrary to their need to demonise gay people. Gay people can’t fall in love and want to make a commitment like everyone else— they have to be sexual deviants, paedophiles, immoral.

Similarly, they’ll claim things like birth control and women’s liberation and feminism are all about women “fucking for fun”— just like our beloved Mullah Buzzsaw used to claim.

They’re obsessed with controlling other people’s sexuality, and with the notion that other people are sexually immoral. Their vision of sexuality is far more revealing of what they themselves think of it, as usual.

There’s one other dimension that I see, ice. Many people prefer a strong demarcation between the masculine and feminine. Gayness is something that challenges that demarcation. It’s a sliding scale issue, though. Wanting to maintain some distinctions between the two is not the same as hating gays, in my eyes.
