re: #151 Glenn Beck’s Grand Unifying Theory of Obdicut

Basically, we’ve discovered the political system in the US has a fundamental flaw— if one party decides to be obstructionist and is able to ally with media and religion in order to sell the idea that obstructionism is good, that government is bad, then they’re capable of executing enormous amounts of power.

The problem is partially the structure of the system, but it’s mostly the cultivated ignorance of the GOP base.

So the question becomes how do we fix it?

The immediate answer is voting out the obstructionists, I guess. The problem is what do you do when nearly half of the country is as bat shit as the conservatives they elect?

I know I’m a broken record, but look at the conservatives here who vote GOP. They seem to be rational people, but they’re throwing in their lot with a party that is actively appealing to religious fanatics, racists, and paranoids.

How do you fix a problem when the “moderates” are perfectly willing to support people this radical?
