Yeah, the writer of 2 Thessalonians identifies himself as Paul the apostle.* In 1 Thessalonians Paul waxes eloquently about the soon expected return of Christ, and this appeared to influence some in the community to not bother with the usual demands of life, expecting as they were to be relieved of all earthly troubles. Thessalonians II appears to have been written, in part, to scale back people’s expectations about a soon Return and to get on with life.
