And the Saudis (the Nervous Nellies of the Middle East, as P.J. O’Rourke once called them) will be in full-on freakout mode. Standing on their own, I frankly wouldn’t really give the Saudis much of a chance against Iran…look at the difficulties they’re facing in Yemen, FFS. They come across as utterly hapless.

The House of Saud is a feudal Monarchy that needs to be replaced, but it will lead to a massive clusterfuck and economic/political shock to the US.
