One of the kids in my boy scout troop was the son of an aviation simulation pioneer named Rudy Frasca. Rudy also loved to restore vintage planes, esp., WWII planes. It was a treat to go out to their airfield and see the planes. I don’t at all remember what I saw though. I know several were used in various war movies.

ETA: sorry, it was the video of the vintage restored plane ditching in the prior thread that made me think of this.

Rudy Frasca, who died last May at age 89, was famous in the aviation world, mostly for his developments in flight simulation but also for his collection of warbirds. Here he is with his P-40E Warhawk:


He also owned a Mitsubishi Zero, a Spitfire and many others but the humble Piper Cub was probably his favorite.
