The fact that Romney feels he must or would like to participate in CPAC, which is basically a hate group/Fundie dream retreat, says just as much about Romney as it does CPAC.

He made one courageous decision, now it’s back to business as usual trying to stand shoulder to shoulder with the other assholes, except they threaten to play rough. Oh well. That’s your pack, Mitt. Love ‘em or leave ‘em.

The fact of the matter is that the marriage between the Mormons and the Religious Right is one of convenience. Evangelicals, if quizzed closely enough, will admit that they think Mormons are cultists. But the two groups will make common cause on things like anti-abortion laws and suppressing women’s rights. I’d personally like that facade to crack, and Romney still wanting to go to CPAC could help. Some people are just going to be stupid and call him names or worse.
