It is the worst of the worst in reality TV. Morbidly obese rednecks convinced they are the epitome of beauty, toddler beauty pageants, teen pregnancy (One of the kids in the show is pregnant, and the matriarch of the family first got pregnant at 15….and the husband is like 8 years older than her, so who knows how he’s not in prison right now). Basically, every loathsome aspect of reality TV condensed into one show for everyone to gawk at. It makes Jersey Shore look like educational programming.

Yes, I’ve read way too much about this show for my own good, and even tried to sit through an episode. I didn’t make it.

I’ve never watched the show, I only know this because they’re in People magazine this week, but… the four kids are from four different fathers. Only two of which she married.

It’s sad that when a white family can be described that way, they’re salt of the earth, real Americans, the kind of people Karl Rove’s ads aim to energize and Freedom Works targets them for GOTV. But when a black family can be described IN THE EXACT SAME TERMS, they’re the boogiemen in those Karl Rove ads and they’re who Freedom Works proposes policies to make it harder for them to vote.
