If you have your heart set on a purebred, call breeders to see who they’re retiring. I got my Lambchop, a basset hound (sweetest dog in the world!!), when she got Pyometra (sic) and had to be spayed. She couldn’t be shown any longer and I wound up with the nicest pooch around.

I have no desire for purebred dogs. I prefer mutts. They’re more interesting.
