Yeah, but Russian has no definite article either. I don’t know what “The Hague” means (s’Gravenhage), but I know in Dutch (and English) it requires a definite article—some place names just do.

I guess I’ve been fatigued into compliance on The Lebanon and The Gambia, but on The Sudan and the Ukraine (and the calculus) I dig in my heels.
