In fairness, Catholics were often considered suspicious in this country until relatively recently (and there’s still some anti-Catholic bias out there, just not from where the rightwing Catholic crowd wants you to think it is from).

But to take the question at face value, I suspect (since I typically don’t really give a fuck what anyone wears or why they wear it) the answer would be the nun wears it because she entered a religious order and it is the uniform of her order; whereas the hijab is something that “every” woman of that religious tradition “must” wear.

Or, you know, racism/xenophobia/religious bigotry/misogyny (disguised as feminism)

Raised Roman Catholic here, went to Catholic schools, the whole shebang. Until not that long ago, and even now some older women still, wear head coverings when attending mass. In the 60’s and into the 70’s (my years of reference) pretty much EVERY woman did.
