re: #153 Gus

I’m not. I said that it’s OK for CCWs, “Should adult women be able to carry? Yes…” But keep in mind that only a small percentage of that 30 percent would be successful. I don’t think gun ownership and rape should have ever come up from either side. I have a mixed view on these things. I support CCWs but not in colleges. Some would not support CCWs period.

Here’s what was presented, a raped woman was expressing her desire to have been allowed to exercise her RTBA. In response to that she was first reduced to a statistic, by a woman, and then had her argument twisted into the patronizing equivalence of men telling women what to wear, by another woman.

That’s what happened. The fact is that she’s not a statistic, she’s a person, and she wasn’t telling anybody what they needed to do to avoid rape, she was expressing her own personal desire to bear arms, which intelligently or not happens to be an individual constitutionally protected right. What’s actually patronizing is the people telling her that she’s wrong and can’t protect herself because some very dubious second order numbers say so, or that she’s somehow slut shaming or explaining the rape of any woman who chooses not to carry simply because she expressed her own desire to.
