re: #158 lawhawk

So much of what DWS had going on is known to everyone else in the top ranks of the DNC, so continuity isn’t as much of an issue as some think. Brazille is widely respected in the DNC and has good working relations with all the principals, including the Clintons, Sanders, and Kaine (among others).

Widely respected, and a keen mind who gets the politics of the situation. It’ll end up being a net plus. So as much as the GOP and some in the media will try to spin this as a disaster, it’ll be anything but.

I’m not poo-pooing Brazile as the interim chair at all; in fact, I agree with you that she is a major upgrade from DWS and I hope she ends up as the permanent chair. I’m just saying that, at a time when the Democrats need to reinforce to the nation that we are the party of positivity, inclusiveness, and hope (as opposed to the narcissist Il Douche and the emergence of an American fascist party in the Republicans), it might not look too good to force DWS out now when her resignation as party chair takes effect within a couple of weeks.

In politics, more than anywhere else in modern American society, perception is reality.
