We should not forget, however, that once elected, the Congress then represents the USA as a whole and their district/state.
Senators and Congressmen are supposed to represent their constituents, however. I’m not naive, and I realize this is seldom the case, but the increasing influence of out-of-state interests dilutes what constituent loyalty there may be even further.
Again, I have no idea how to limit such influence. It’s just troubling to see Federalism further weakened this way.
