So, today was a good day. A really good day.

I was heading downstairs to grab the elevator, and the workmen were finishing up the apartment where the previous resident had passed away. The guy in charge recognized me - “Ah, the American from upstairs” and then said to me, “Hey I got something here if you want it. I don’t want to have to haul it, it’s too heavy”.

And lo and behold: An almost brand-new washing machine. A Candy Aqua 80F model, made in Italy, a front-loader. So, we hauled it upstairs, and I’m using it right now. Works great.

And best of all: I got a 275 Euro washing machine for nothing. That’s always good.

I reckon I should set myself up as the Fred G. Sanford of Ostrava. All I need now is a son so I can say “You big dummy!” and a sister-in-law I can compare to Godzilla.
