How many types of video formats are there? Got any links to help a brother out? I need to do some learning!

There are tons of formats. Without getting into word soup, the average video file is usually 1 compressed video stream and 1 compressed audio stream stuck in a container file. mov is a container, for instance, not a type of video. It probably has quicktime video in it, but it could have something else.

I don’t have much in the way of info sources to point you to - I just picked up stuff over the years. There’s a little free program called “mediainfo” that you can install (I only know about Windows) and it will tell you what container and types of video/audio are in your files. Once you know that you can find an editor.
