Nah, no need to baste. Stick some classic herbs under the skin and then slather the skin over the whole bird with olive oil. Give it a blast for 10 - 15 minutes at 450 then back off to 350 for the duration based on the weight of the bird. I like stuffing but if you don’t, take a couple of oranges, quarter them, and bake it with them in the body cavity.
