It does get thick in there. Around here sprinklers are fed by water that would otherwise go to the kitchen. Bottled water jokes aside, we Los Angelinos barely drink the drinking water. Our SFV well waters were contaminated long ago in the war (WW2) industrial building efforts and by rusted gasoline tanks under stations. Benzene.

Fire sprinklers in the absence of a water main is quite a big deal to design. Gotta gather a lot of water and have pumps that do not depend on electrical service from the main panel. So generator here we go. Very Special generator.

Can’t live without enough water.

The VA clinic in Sidney has fire sprinklers which are not connected to the city water main.

The installation (to my untrained eye) appears identical, except where the sprinkler feed comes out of the building. There it ends in a hose fitting. The idea is either a water truck is hooked up to it, or hose is connected from the building to the nearest fire hydrant.
