It’s all very simple to those of us who play Realtime Strategy games. Clearly, you have to dedicate almost all resources to economy. Even when you’re in battles.

What? No! You peacefully develop your technological tree until you reach fundamentalism, then switch to 0% science, 80% taxes, 20% luxury rate, then nuke everybody and invade the remnants of other civilizations with good defensive units.

Yeah, you said “realtime”. I’m ignoring that, since war is much more more similar to turn-based games.
