Truth is truth, if we lose by standing up for women and their choice that has gone as far now as their choice of birth control, I’m on the right side.

I’m not saying that Dems don’t promote their platform, I’m not sure the emphasis on abortion is really necessary. I’m talking more about a tactical matter, not so much as “being on the right side”, at the end of the day being on the right side in my view is more about winning at this point. Sorry for sounding so brutally pragmatic, but I think there’s a delicate balance to keep here which is more important on the strategy than on the purity of a message.

Again, the only reason I see for it is the “energize the base argument”, let’s not kid ourselves to think that these speeches are not coordinated to maximize an outcome after all (see the course correction on the Israel/God position, and the bad optics of having to amend it in the way it happened).
