Somehow Manafort has an escape plan. Is it a pardon or something else? I can’t figure it out, but it feels as if he’s got one.

I think it’s more like he has a choice - take his chances at trial and probably end up enjoying the fine facilities of the US prison system, or spill his guts and wind up shooting himself in the back of the head six times and then falling out a window at Trump Tower.

He does not want to make enemies of his current ‘friends.’

And I’d wager that in addition to the federal charges, NY AG Schneiderman has got some state charges in the pipeline, which are pardon-proof.
