It’s one of the Tenets of Wingnut Dogma, like that the reason healthcare is so expensive is because of frivolous malpractice lawsuits, or that if you make insurance cheaper people will use ‘too much’ healthcare.

All of these are bullshit, but of course, being bullshit doesn’t stop them being Dogma.
