Not to interrupt the glee-fest, but allow me to point out that, lousy numbers or no, not only is Obama still President for the next four years (in which there is plenty of time for the mercurial public to reverse this current downward trend), but he still has at least two years of a two-house majority-Democrat Congress.

Which means that he and the Congress can do basically whatever they damn please no matter what the public thinks. And, worse than that, there is no visible sign that the Republicans are anywhere yet near to organizing themselves and forming a coherent alternative to present to the electorate in two years.

All true & well spoken. We can only hope that his low numbers are noticed by Congress.
