Santorum is nearly as much of an undisciplined loose cannon as Gingrich. Every day or two he says something outrageous, usually about abortion, contraception, women’s rights in general, or Obama’s failure to be a sufficiently Christian president. His choice of words is less bombastic than Gingrich, and his sweater vest, one wife, and 7 kids make him seem safer, less loathsome than Gingrich. But deep down there’s not much difference ideologically…both revanchists and Catholic absolutists.
