I like WW’s suggestion. By acknowledging her situation, you will be doing a lot of good. I don’t know how well you know your friend’s daughter but encourage her too and her interests. You’re a good friend though, I can tell that already from how you asked this and interacting with you here.

It’s a relatively early diagnosis - her daughter is only 3-ish (birthdays are hard, ok?) - and it sounds like she’s relatively high-functioning. I know they’ve been working hard to get her the support she needs.

I just also know that’s got to be a rough time for them as parents and I want to be sure she knows I’m thinking about her. So I will probably try to do a card or something, and maybe tuck in a gift card for her to spend on stuff for the hobby she’s trying to turn into a home business.
