They do get chilly though, and if a cold snake is draped around one’s warm neck, sometimes they like to kind of pull in close to warm themselves. They do have excellent muscles.
My boa constrictor would snuggle in close during Chicago winter nights but never go into squish mode. There is a very big difference between kill for food and oops, squished someone cuz I was cold. AFAIK the latter has never happened. Snakes are certainly not among the most intelligent of species but they are not as dangerous by any means as most human lore would depict.
