Fox’s Bolling: We Should Emulate China With No Labor Laws Or Minimum Wage
[Embedded content]
Some quick rejoinders after watching that segment:
1. Everyone but the old guy in the white shirt is an idiot, and I’m not too sure about him.
2. Despite Bolling’s opinion, China does have a minimum wage law, which is not enforced very rigidly.
3. Workers in China do work very hard, because if they don’t, or if they miss a day, come in late, or get sick, they will lose their job.
4. Workers in China are beginning to rebel. No labor unions yet, but give them a couple of decades more.
5. Most Chinese workers work 6 days a week, often for 12 hours a day (especially factory workers). They get one week off for Spring Festival, and a few long weekends scattered throughout the year.
6. China produces a lot of stuff because there are a lot of Chinese. They are not necessarily more productive per capita than American workers doing similar jobs.
7. The dark-haired chick in the green dress has not been paying attention to Germany’s employment situation. Its economy is better than ours, IIRC.
