I don’t know. While those numbers suck relative to the general population, there way better than any tech company I have been at, and that includes a government contractor which is basically required to make sure they hire without any regard to age, gender, or ethnicity (as long as they are US citizens).

I think part of the problem is that so many are located in Silicon Valley.

Overall, Google’s workforce is only 2% Black, only 1% Black in its tech sector. I expect some companies are worse than that. Women’s employment looks bad in comparison to our presence in the general population, but the ratio is still much higher than that of Blacks. Asians are probably overrepresented because of location, also.
