I work with someone who got into a brawl with a raccoon that was going after her dog. She had to get some expensive, painful shots and her recommendation is just don’t do it. They are tenacious and vicious fighters, and their claws are no joke. Best to keep your dog clear of them if you can.
And now I will go walk my pups, hopefully not near any raccoons.
