re: #82 The War TARDIS

Your right, I am still learning. But I would like to ask you. How can science progress when things like this are still accepted?

In his famous example, when fire and cotton are placed in contact, the cotton is burned not because of the heat of the fire, but through God’s direct intervention, a claim which he defended using logic.

There’s a reason the Islamic Golden Age ended. People like this guy are it. Whenever I hear something like the above? I simply won’t listen because they are so off the plot, it is bizarre. How exactly do you accept science and occasionalism at the same time. You can’t.

Yeah, okay. I’ll bother having a discussion about this with you when you have some actual context and not just a single Wiki quotation devoid of citation or context with which to condemn a single man for all of Islam’s lack of scientific progress. The arrogance of youthful ignoance never ceases to amaze me.

Which dovetails into a more personal issue, me trying find someone. I do pray about it. But at the same time, humans, by their nature, can act indepently. So, since Allah doesn’t directly control anyone, how does that help? I have not heard a good answer to that yet. Combined with there are nearly no ways to meet Muslims of another Gender in my age group (20 to 25), the fact that the way the systems work for converts seems to disadvantage them, and the fact that half or slightly more of the messages I have gotten on the matrimonial site have been scammers, I am having my monthly frustration burst over this issue.

And until I see an organized solution to this, or something actually happens, I will continue to have my monthly event. A Muslimah won’t fall into my lap, but with all these people saying “Calm down, it will happen” it feels like that I am not getting help, or that something will happen spontaneously. Which it won’t.

Yeah, I’ve heard all this before and am not really interested in discussing it further with you. If you’re smart enough to figure out Al-Ghazali was wrong, then you should be smart enough to solve your own romantic & existential problems. Oh sorry, was that harsh? I don’t really care—just go away, you get on my last nerve.
