re: #146 majii

Over the last 40+ years, I’ve watched the move on the right away from a belief in facts and reality to a belief in ideology/ies. Along the way, I noticed the role right-wing media has played in this transformation. As RW media spread and grew stronger, the size of the RW bubble became larger and more reinforced with RW beliefs. We now have millions of Americans who believe things that have no bases in facts or reality. Many on the right still believe there as been no economic recovery; the stock markets haven’t improved since 2009; Obamacare has death panels; and the U.S. is less well-regarded today than it was in 2009; and this president has totally “destroyed” America, among other false things. I’ve reached the conclusion that those who believe these things want to believe them and have no desire to know the facts.

Precisely. What we have in the US now is about half the country self-propagandizing itself in a way that traditional propagandists (e.g., Goebbels) never would have expected.
