Video: Trump Audience Member on TSA: “Get Rid of All These Heeby Jobbies They Wear”

“We are looking at that”
Politics • Views: 53,387

YouTube

Well, today’s invitation-only Trump rally was quite a display of overt bigotry indeed. Here’s a woman asking Trump about the TSA and whether he’s in favor of getting rid of Muslim agents who wear “all these heeby jobbies” (hijabs). Trump answers, “You know, and we are looking at that, we are looking at that, we’re looking at a lot of things.”

What can anyone say at this point? The bigotry of Trump and his supporters is completely out of control. I’ve never seen a presidential candidate this openly hateful.

Well, there you go. Trump had the opportunity for his own, ‘He’s a Arab!’ moment, and instead he agreed with the crazy woman.

Not that I’m surprised, since his whole campaign is built around appealing to her.

Trump answers, “You know, and we are looking at that, we are looking at that, we’re looking at a lot of things.”

The only thing that he could say that would mean less is “You know, and we’re praying for you, we’re praying for you, we’re praying about a lot of things.”, but it would probably mean more to bigot woman.

Oh, for the love of shit!

Wildlife officials: Don’t touch the pups

A harbor seal pup rests on seaweed-covered rocks after coming in on the high tide in the West Seattle neighborhood of Seattle. As harbor seals are being born in the Pacific Northwest this time of year, marine mammal advocates are urging people not to touch or pick up pups that come up on beaches and shorelines to rest. At least five times this season, well-meaning people have illegally picked up seal pups in Oregon and Washington thinking they were abandoned or needed help, but that interference ultimately resulted in two deaths, said Michael Milstein, a spokesman with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

I’m getting the distinct sense that Trump and his GOP supporters are something straight of central casting from 1930s America Firster meetings, crossed with Father Coughlin. This is the whole mindset of Trump - blame the Other, and engage in demagoguery.

Trump thinks that he can win on the angst/anger of white guys (who form the core of the GOP) because they fear their losses - “losses” that include everyone else engaging in the rights and privileges that this class has always had (and has taken for granted).

It’s scary that we’re seeing history stutter like this. We know where this leads, and it’s nowhere good.

But it’s time for good people and stand up for what’s right. Can’t take any of this for granted.

My name is Donald J. Trump, Prince of the Great Country of America and I have been requested by the Republican National Campaign Company to contact you for assistance in resolving a matter of importance to your great country. The Republican National Campaign Company has recently concluded a large number of Primaries which have positioned me to assume my rightful title of King of Great Country of America. The Republican National Campaign Company and I are equally desirous of exporting our prosperous greatness to many other parts and regions of the world, however, because of the illegitimate Kenyan regime blocking our efforts in the Great Country of America currently we are unable to move our greatness to other regions.

Dear one, your assistance is requested as a Foreign Leader Friend to assist the Republican National Campaign Company in moving our greatness to other regions such as yours. If certain funds can be transferred to your name, in an American account, then you can forward the funds as directed by the Republican National Campaign Company. In exchange for your accommodating services, the Republican National Campaign Company would agree to allow you to retain up to 10%, or US$4 million of this amount, payable in valuable Trump University certificates which are guaranteed to increase in value during the passage of time!

However, to be a legitimate transferee of these moneys according to the Citizens United campaign laws of the Country of America, you must presently be a depositor of at least US$100,000 in a Republican National Campaign Company fund, which is regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria Federal Campaign Commission of America.

Dear one, if you value greatness in your region as I know you must, it will be possible for you to assist us, and we would be most grateful. We suggest that you meet with us in person at Mar-a-Lago, and the time of your visit I introduce you to very many great and important American officials such as Reince Preibus and Mike Tyson as well as with certain other officials of the Republican National Campaign Company.

Please call me at your earliest convenience at xx-xxx-xxxx. Time is of the essence in this matter; very quickly the illegitimate Kenyan regime will realize that the Central Bank of Nigeria Federal Campaign Commission of America is maintaining this amount on deposit, and attempt to levy certain depository taxes on it.

Yours truly,

Donald J. Trump, Prince of the Great Country of America

Glad to hear this. I was happy when I read that one of his securities fraud cases would be heard in federal court. In every case involving a high-ranking GOP pol in Texas, the State Supreme Ct. has dismissed charges against them. DeLay and Perry both skated when they shouldn’t have, and the sole reason they did is because the state supreme court has a GOP majority. I want to see Paxton get his due. The main reason he rose to power is because he has waged a seven plus year war against the federal government all because he doesn’t like the current president. I’m hoping he’ll be found guilty and will be sentenced to serve some time behind bars. Even his wife bragged about how she and Paxton have deliberately targeted this president. They seem to think this sh*t is funny. She was grinning when she made the remark. If he’s convicted and sentenced, and if he had not taken the route he has taken, then maybe the president would step in and pardon him. I don’t think this will happen now. Paxton crossed his bridges and burned every one to the ground in an attempt to show Texans how “strong” he is and how anti-government he is while occupying a position in government. Let him face the music without being able to petition the guy he’s demonized for more than seven years for relief. It’s his turn at bat, and I hope he strikes out in federal court. He won’t be able to get the state supreme court to help him with this one. If he appeals to the 5th Circuit, its judges will most likely absolve him of all blame. If that happens, I expect federal prosecutors to appeal to the SCOTUS, and hopefully, by that time, HRC will have replaced Scalia, and he’ll be out of luck there, too. Dude is a 1st Class Douchebag and will deserve every bit of humiliation he gets if he’s convicted and sentenced to spend time in a federal prison.

As RW media spread and grew stronger, the size of the RW bubble became larger and more reinforced with RW beliefs. We now have millions of Americans who believe things that have no bases in facts or reality. Many on the right still believe there as been no economic recovery; the stock markets haven’t improved since 2009; Obamacare has death panels; and the U.S. is less well-regarded today than it was in 2009; and this president has totally “destroyed” America, among other false things. I’ve reached the conclusion that those who believe these things want to believe them and have no desire to know the facts.

Precisely. What we have in the US now is about half the country self-propagandizing itself in a way that traditional propagandists (e.g., Goebbels) never would have expected.

I think people are most threatened by things they don’t know and that’s why Islamaphobia is so easy to push in parts of the country where Muslims are literally only a fraction of a percent of the population.

And the fucking transcripts. What do you think she was talking about to the Wall Street bankers? ISTR someone (Huffington Post?) tried to track down people who actually attended one of those speeches by calling banking firms and asking “Did Hillary Clinton ever speak at one of your events? Can we speak to someone who was there?” and people who did attend said “who pays attention to the speeches at these events? We were chit chatting with our neighbors at the table” and finally they found someone who said “Yeah she talked about making more opportunities for women and minorities in the financial industry”

duh. They are “speaking fees”. It is influence peddling. No one gives a shit what she says. wink wink. They are just paying for access and influence.

The US doesn’t ignore Africa, there are troops in off the top of my head, 4 countries right now, and close relations with many others. The problem is corrupt Africa governments love China more because they get free money no strings attached and all the bribes they can stuff in their Swiss and Dubai bank accounts. America likes to promote human rights and fighting corruption and corrupt people do not like that.

Point taken, but China encourages its businessmen to set up firms in African nations. Not that it’s going so well. It seems Chinese businessmen don’t treat the locals any better than any previous colonial or semi-colonial power, and there have been worker strikes and even government pushback on broken Chinese promises.

The BBC has made a couple of documentaries in the past few years, about changes in the southern half of Africa, Chinese involvement, etc. I don’t know how widely they’ve been viewed in the US.

I don’t know if there is an American TV company which has done something equivalent. Frankly I wouldn’t trust any commercial American network if they did such a thing.

Very true. I’m far from a China expert, but the Party will always have a delicate balance to keep between avoiding domestic upheaval and pushing limits in East Asia and Southeast Asia. They are not immune to the forces of global economics and a severe downturn could see China under domestic stress that may be hard to contain.

China positioned itself deliberately as the factory to the world back in the 1980s. Its most easily exploitable natural resource then was people who could work in factories for much lower wages than were paid anywhere else. The government fixed the yuan to encourage foreign investment and enable cheap exports. It was a masterful plan, and now China’s domestic economy is still growing, and the people for the most part are optimistic their children will have a better life than they do now. The big question is how long can this economic model last. If the Chinese economy starts to sour, the government might try to distract a discontented population with some kind of ultra-nationalist provocation.

I’ve resumed work on Mrs. Fish’s big classic Lincoln. I stripped out the burned and melted engine wiring harness; unfortunately, the replacement I eBayed won’t fit directly, but hopefully I can rig a repair to the affected parts using the spare. I’ve got most of the other new parts here, and the holiday weekend will probably result in lots of work getting done removing and replacing the rest of the broken parts, so that when the wiring is ready, I can thread it in and start her up (hopefully).

But only certain types of union workers. Attack unions for police, fire, prison guards, and watch the GOP lose their minds. They love authority because they don’t even hide their fascism any longer.

Also a fun fact I just remembered about unions. Reading a biography about RFK by Arthur Schlesinger , I found it interesting that conservative politicians in the 50s and 60s supported many corrupt unions run by infamous gangsters such as Jimmy Hoffa.

amazon.com

Conservatives viewed the gangsters as businessmen their business allies could do business with, to keep their union members in line and not cause trouble. RFK in the rackets commission was blocked constantly by Goldwater and other conservatives when he was trying to remove mob corruption from unions. A big departure from today when all private unions are hated by conservatives.

Nixon is the one who commuted Hoffa’s sentence IIRC. I always found it ironic that conservatives while staunchly anti-union that one of the few unions they did show support to were the Teamsters who were notoriously corrupit and mob tied. That gets me to another point regarding RFK’s brother, FJK is always called mob helped but that ignores that Nixon actually had some ties too.

The Xi regime has been pushing patriotism and nationalism heavily since he took office. Lots of emphasis on the Revolution, Mao and Marx. The government is also trying very hard to neutralize and/or assimilate the Tibetan and Uighur populations in the west. And dissent — even the most lukewarm criticism — of the government is quickly taken care of.

China’s space program is a source of national pride, as it’s been very successful so far, with the possible exception of Jade Rabbit, which had a solar panel malfunction and froze to death on the Moon.

I think I’ve told this story before… but a long time ago in a college far, far away, I had a philosophy professor who suggested that the big problem we moderns face is that we don’t know what do with all our free time.

That is, post industrial revolution, production capabilities are such that many people won’t need to work that much for their necessities.

So if we are satisfied with a full stomach and clothes on our back, we don’t need to spend all our day working.

This idea of surplus time is one of those things I think economists and philosophers could go ‘round and ‘round and not really get anywhere.

I suspect that our basic human drive is to be higher on the totem pole then are neighboring human.

So we are never satisfied with what we have, if someone else has more.

For this philosophy to play out in practice, we’d need a much kinder society and economy than we have. Suppose we really are at a point where workers could work half time and still keep everything going. Instead of that happening, we would have half the workers working full time and the other half unemployed. A huge class of unemployed people will act to depress wages for the employed.

The US seems to be trending towards this model (jobless recoveries etc.).

“W” even charges veterans’ groups for speeches and demands a private jet, five star hotels, and the best of everything. Former Presidents Carter and Clinton don’t charge anything to speak to veterans’ groups. I was surprised when I read that GWB is so much of a money-grubber that he charges veterans’ groups to speak to them. SMDH. I also remember a few years back that some GOP-related group organized an event meant to “teach” attendees how to set up and run successful businesses. “W” participated in the event and was handsomely rewarded for it. The Bush Family is also expanding into the field of education. About two years ago, Jeb held a seminar in AZ which was supposed to teach school administrators how to run schools like businesses. The family is also involved in the business of creating and selling tests to schools, too. Some education experts believe the Bush family is behind the push to divert traditional public funds to private and charter schools. I read two articles yesterday about how Michigan’s plan to create more charter schools and operate them like businesses has been proven to be a major failure. The achievement scores of kids in charter schools in MI are not superior to those of kids in traditional schools, and some parents who sent their kids to religious/charter schools there have children who are not prepared for college. Some of these parents and kids only find out how far they are behind their peers academically when they become freshmen in college. Sad, very sad because one selling point of gaining support for diverting traditional public school funds to charter schools and parochial schools was that these institutions are better at preparing students for college. They aren’t. I also read a report on charter schools here in GA, and they, too have kids who don’t score better than kids in traditional public schools. Before any parent enrolls a kid in a parochial school [besides Catholic] or a charter school, I think s/he should check out the curriculum that is being used at that school, test scores, and the percentage of students who graduate from it who are admitted to good colleges.

So much dumbassery in 140 characters:

That’s a huge misreading of history.

Whether there’s Nixon who decided to delay rearming Israel during the Yom Kippur War and put geopolitics and Israel’s survival on the line or Reagan arming the Saudis with AWACS and F-15s, which could be used against Israel over Israel’s intentions. Or GHWB trying to impose a peace talks on Israel at Madrid.

Or any number of other instances where the US played the Grand Game and Israel’s interests were secondary.

That compares with Obama, who hasn’t forced a peace process (surprisingly actually, given most presidents go legacy building in the ME during back half of 2d terms). He hasn’t armed Israel’s enemies no matter what they think of the Iran deal, which delays Iran’s nuclear capabilities.

As much as all these nitwits complain about the Iran deal, they can’t escape fact that we now have more information about the program and what they could or couldn’t do than before. There’s a measure of control there that was never present until now.

But what do you expect when Trump can’t tell the difference between IS and Hizbullah (and don’t expect Hannity or his fanbase to know or care either).

Let’s implement some new hurdle for a Democrat to clear that the Republican doesn’t seem to need to.

As much as all these nitwits complain about the Iran deal, they can’t escape fact that we now have more information about the program and what they could or couldn’t do than before. There’s a measure of control there that was never present until now.

Speaking of China, here’s a new “rap” video from the Party intended to teach English speakers about China.

bbc.com

I put rap in quotes because, IMO, this is not rap.

Thanks for sharing. I don’t have a problem with that kind of propaganda because I expect it (and except for the “rap” it was pretty well done). And I also feel well enough informed without ever having visited China to know that it is the official version. I will go at some point. Who wouldn’t want to visit such a complex place with its rich and deep history?

re: #146 majii

Over the last 40+ years, I’ve watched the move on the right away from a belief in facts and reality to a belief in ideology/ies. Along the way, I noticed the role right-wing media has played in this transformation.

Of course things have not improved yet. Obama is still in office, I have not been given a pony, nor a flying car!

re: #195 EPR-radar

Interesting article over at DailyKos on the economy. dailykos.com

The thesis here, from a worker in that field, is that IT/process automation is systematically eliminating jobs.

I see it as an interesting part of the story of the real issue in economics (IMO), which is what to do with a persistent shortage of jobs/over supply of labor.

There was an interesting article today, in Forbes of all places, about Automated Luxury Communism.

It tries to deal with the question, “What happens when there isn’t any work for a lot of people?” Or maybe the question is “How does capitalism handle it when there are too many products but no buyers?”

My thought is our society won’t make the change cleanly. That’s because ‘work’ is a much, perhaps more, of a holy ritual than it is a practical activity. Good people work and become rich. Bad people do not work and become poor.

When religious thought is involved it’s very hard to make people perceive the universe in other ways.

E-mail just received from the Sanders campaign. No, I don’t think I will be sending money; that train left the station long ago.

Mrs. Clinton some time ago said Mr. Sanders is free to run his campaign any way he likes, including bringing his delegates to the floor of the convention. It has become apparent to me who is running the more honest campaign here, and thus I am no longer in the Sanders camp.

—- —-

The world is going to have answers to two very important questions about our campaign in about three weeks.
1. Are we able to bring all of our nearly 1,900 delegates to the Democratic convention in Philadelphia, where with Bernie they will cast important votes for a progressive platform that includes issues like opposition to a vote against the disastrous TPP, or a $15 federal minimum wage?

2. Will the FEC fundraising report we must file days before the convention show that we have the momentum and the power to continue the incredible work of our political revolution?
I want the answers to both of those questions to be yes, James. The future of our movement depends on it. Can you help before the FEC deadline at midnight?
Make a $50 contribution to Bernie Sanders before tonight’s FEC deadline and you will make sure all our delegates go to the convention and we’ll show the continued strength of our political revolution.
When our delegates gather in Philadelphia, they’ll have the chance to put the Democratic Party on the record about stopping votes against the TPP, fighting for a $15 federal minimum wage, opposing fracking, and so many more progressive priorities.
It’s up to us to make it happen.

Yes, super sharp. I haven’t posted anything lately, we’ll see how things go this weekend. I’m using two remote cameras now, one at home looking at home plate, and I’m mixing up the second one using a 300mm f4 either super tight at third base hoping to get a head-first slide, or lucky at second base (think the Utley play last year in the playoffs). I’m having a lot of fun with this new gig.

20 feet tops. (!!!!!!) Yes, it can focus super, super close, almost too close. It’s too tight to shoot the infield, so I’m going to move up to the concourse for a few innings to mix it up shooting down (now the backgrounds will be the grass and dirt around the infield), using two remote cameras to cover my ass at second and home.

I would think that one of the first requirements for being selected as a delegate would be the ability to afford to pay for your trip to the convention, including meals, lodging, and transportation. I read at TPM that the RNC has this requirement. Do you know if the DNC has a similar policy?

Well, I’m not sure about that. That would mean only the rich could be delegates.

My own almost-moribund county Democratic party wanted me to be a delegate to the state party convention. I could not afford it.

I have been getting E-mails from the Democratic Party about paying for delegates hotels and airfare to the convention in Philadelphia. (I believe the party is paying for it, but I am unsure)

SMOTI is getting nasty:

To complete this revolting picture, his source is rt.com:

I guess we are supposed to generalize this unfortunate accident to all Muslims. Or something.

I would guess to say that Jimmy the Geek is doing nothing more than relating to the incident more than reporting it.

That first picture with the teeth is ironic-I had my Ozzie in for a wound-poor baby had an abcessed molar that they yanked out (I was wondering why he was bleeding all of a sudden.) So he’s on antibiotics and pain medication (believe it or not, they use buprenorphere - same thing they use for opiate addicts) and he’s got a stich that they’ll take out in a few weeks.

Heh, nice shot, the shallow focus look is a fave of mine. Not sure how far you can stop down to get more depth at the game. ?? We joke here it’s the anti macro setup. Long lens at it’s shortest distance, wide open. Lens tech tell me that’s as sharp as can be had. In theory.

My friends who are national delegates are fund-raising for their expenses. The state party and others have helped by holding events and donating items to be auctioned to help with funding.

The Bernie bullshit is that all of Hillary’s delegates are richy riches who can well afford it, while Berners are poor, suffering students and other brands of poor who are being “disenfranchised” by the DNC. They even said as much in one of their emails.

The info on what it would cost has been available on the state party websites for months and months. This “Ooooh, nobody told us until yesterday” is just a bunch of crap.

I’ll add that my friends who are going as delegates are far from rich. But they’re DEMOCRATS who have paid enough attention to know what the deal is instead of whining incessantly like the poor, put upon Berners.

You know…if they couldn’t afford it, they could, like all the other delegates, accept help from the local party machinery to fundraise.

Of course, calling them corrupt tools makes it a little harder to do that….

I’m ROTFLMBO because this is sooo true! One shouldn’t sh*t on others and then, expect them to give you their hard-earned money.

A look at how far the GOP has fallen over eight yers

that sums it up: instead of calling these people out or trying to distance ourselves from them, the GOP have let the bigots take over the party

You don’t know what the public speaking circuit is, I see. Companies and universities pay a lot of money for important people to speak about their life experiences or viewpoints, it isn’t a hidden corruption system like Bernie fans want to believe. These people just assume because they have never heard of all the money public speakers make.

I worked for 20 years for a nonprofit professional organization of college and university planners. We never expected any quid pro quo from our big name speakers, no matter how much they were paid. They were for our members and conference audiences and what we cared about was their drawing power, the excitement they could generate, and good post-event evaluations.
