But Chris Matthews is the epitome of lazy beltway journalism to me. I often like Olbermann’s special comments but I can’t bear to watch him, and Ed Schultz is a nut— he’s not pandering to the Dem base but to the left’s version of the Glenn Beck audience, in a way.

I want to emphasize that I watch Matthews for entertainment, not analysis. The guy cracks me up! :) Occasionally he’ll strike gold, like with Bachmann, but usually he’s yukking it up or trying to get his viewers to agree with his opinion.

I enjoyed Olbermann’s format when he started, but the cycle of continuous outrage just got old after a while. I think Schultz’s lasted about a week before I gave up on him. He’s definitely throwing red meat to the base.

I wouldn’t quite compare him to Beck, who seems mentally unstable.
