Just ignore that there was nothing stopping any of those members from Congress from owning or carrying firearms in Virginia. In fact, VA has some of the most lax gun laws on the East Coast (they are a substantial source of firearms that are used in crimes elsewhere on the East Coast, especially in NYC). VA has a far higher per capita firearms death rate than NY too. That’s a correlation that the GOP/NRA don’t want people to realize. NY has a far larger population than VA, and yet VA saw more killed by firearms than NY did.
