I think you’re re-stating what I was saying. I used to at least respect the Libertarians who were both socially and fiscally small-government. If you dig back in the party’s platform decades ago, you’ll see a lot more of that than you do now. You’ll even see some surprises, like quite a bit of pro-environmental regulation stances, under the reasoning that like common defense, such a thing can’t be left to private ventures to manage through self-interest. (Tragedy of the Commons and all that.)

When are you talking about? Ron Paul was the nominee back in 1988. How long are you reaching back?
