It becomes an issues when it happens on city land or public parks. The city has the obligation to keep these areas safe for the public.

This is a privately owned park, as has been made abundantly clear already. And legally, nightclubs and other areas are ‘public’ too and the cops have just as much an obligation to make sure that such crimes aren’t happening there, as well. Do you really think that cops have less responsibility to go after rapists just because they’re indoors?

If the cities allowed these areas turn into dagerous crime ridden areas the public is going to be pissed.

Zucotti park is a tiny area that’s less than a city block. It is not an ‘area’. Even according to the video you’re so fond of, the problem is in one section of that small park.

The city can’t just wash their hands and walk away.

Who’s talking about the city walking away?
