While Muslim, I admit the Mennonites are fantastic on this.
If you want to give to religious organization, give to them. They will use it very well.
I suspect it is because their religious institutions are rather rudimentary and basic, and they do not proselytize. Those 2 factors are some of the biggest drains on other Church’s funds. Myself, when I give to a Jewish charity, I pretty much know it goes to Jewish causes. Sometimes social services in Israel or in the local Jewish community. But when I want to support other causes, I do it directly. Medical research, social services in Canada, world hunger, disaster relief, that sort of thing. I try to go as direct as possible.
