There were a bunch of GM IT professionals who were so pissed off that they actually started a movement to join the UAW but union wasn’t equipped to deal with an influx of salaried professionals who made more than the line workers.

Quite frankly, I’m surprised that when an outsourcer comes in and the staff that is about to be laid off is required to train the outsourcer staff that they just don’t walk off.

It’s now gotten to the point that IBM doesn’t call layoffs layoffs - but ‘Resource Allocation’ (RA). One of the guys I worked closely with in IBM get RA’ed a few years back - at least now he’s retired….
