I’m safe, all major fire activity is to the east of me. Grand County, CO is looking at potentially cataclysmic catastrophe. Hasn’t been confirmed yet, but there’s reports the Grand Lake Lodge was destroyed.

This was inevitable. All the forests in Grand County were beetle-killed in the aughts, just endless stands of dark red tinder-dry forest that’s been waiting to burn. Yesterday all the elements for a horrible fire lined up. I’m pretty sure the state of Colorado has never seen 100,000 acres get torched in a day, I know I sure haven’t.
