Jefferson wanted a truly Roman Agrarian society complete with slaves. Hamilton had a bit more realistic view. I’m not a lover of Jefferson.

I really grew jaded on Jefferson when I had to research him and slavery for an article we did at the magazine firm in the summer. The idea of Jefferson the reluctant slave-owner is very, very false. Anyhow, my favorite founder remains Ben Franklin. I like Roger Sherman too- the kid brother got to play him in a mock Constitutional convention.
