From the sounds of it, there’s not much that murdering Epstein has really prevented. Short of his turning evidence in the hopes of leniency from prosecutors, his death has actually made it possible for the courts to move faster on the release of evidence gathered in the investigation. And his co-conspirators continue to face prosecution, so his death has not prevented prosecutors from moving forward. So far, it seems the only thing that his death has prevented is the victims suing him personally, forcing them to instead sue his estate instead. Not to mention that his death will only bring further scrutiny on the whole matter rather than less.

Really, it seems a safer bet to just assume that he did commit suicide as a last “Fuck You” to his victims.
