I’ve seen numerous posts like yours today on social media. It’s sad. My dad wasn’t an overtly political guy, though he voted Republican until GWB’s second term. But he took pride in taking out an old heavy flag that we stored away the rest of the year to put up on July 4th. I don’t put one out because it’s become a kind of semaphore for Trump supporter where I live.

That sounds like my mom. She hung the flag (my parents received as a wedding present) on the porch in the morning and took it in at dusk.
