Hate to change the subject from Upchuck. Not.

Got the bad news from my landlord this afternoon that he’s sold the complex. He recently had another heart attack and had to have 4 stents put in place, so he thinks he’ll retire from the real estate business. Sold it to a guy in NY who will have a mgmt co here handle it. I had asked him a couple of times if he was selling it, since the bank has been out here twice in the last couple of months, the last on Fri when they toured my apt (as a model) and it closed on Mon, appparently.

I sure don’t think they’re going to replace him, though. Best landlord and all around nice guy you could ever want, but with his medical issues, I don’t blame him for slowing down. He was afraid he’d have the fatal h.a. and leave his wife with too much to handle on her own. So they’re divesting themselves of pretty much all their rental properties.

I dread having to deal with a mgmt co and an absentee “landlord” for whom this is strictly an investment.

For M, it was a labor of love.
