Out of curiosity, did the CEO of the hospital network also make a good enough deal to cover the cost of his/her 100 million dollar pay package?

CEO wages tend to correlate strongly with company size. Whether a CEO is objectively good or bad does not seem to be as much of a factor. Absolutely atrocious CEOs can still collect massive pay packages and even more lucrative severance packages when the board finally kicks them to the curb. Alternately, many founder CEOs do amazing jobs while pulling in little compensation besides the appreciation of their own stock in the company.
