I think I remember reading an article about a psychology study that humans often tend to identify with bullies. Despite the recent “everybody hates bullies” thing the study found that many people gravitate towards aggressive people out of self defense.

Makes a lot of sense if your clan is surrounded by a lot of clans that want your yams.
