I never really related to Prince’s music. Admittedly I didn’t hear a whole heck of a lot of it. Was never impressed with the singles and actually found them annoying, so that probably had a lot to do with my indifference. When I kept hearing what a brilliant musician he was, all I could think of were the dozen or so singles that don’t show much brilliance at all. That “amazing guitar solo” where he supposedly shows up all the classic rock “gods” was a lame performance by all involved. There’s no point in shredding during “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”. In fact, anybody who does loses points with me. The guitar should be weeping, not preening. You know, like is says in the FREAKING TITLE??? I am open to examples, but for me to randomly click on songs I don’t know makes it really hard to find good examples. One minute I have power ballad, the next a percussion laden funkfest simply because I don’t know where to look.

Seriously man, just stop. If you don’t like his music, that is OK.
It is not for us to try to convince you.

Maybe you can just try to appreciate his fierce advocacy for individuality, artistic expression and ownership of his work and leave it there.
