Anti black “race riot” pogroms rarely (or never) had a body count anywhere near that high in the 20th century. I would not expect to see anything like that without a firebomb or some such being used on a place of worship. The police, for all their faults, simply no longer let mass murder in the streets go unchecked in this day and age.

The Tulsa Race Riots (started by whites because blacks had the audacity to make money) only killed three hundred, but their entire section of the city was burned to the ground.
