re: #49 Charles Johnson

I’ve been staying out of this because it’s just depressing to see this kind of asinine smearing by the far left of a very eloquent and effective voice — someone we need more than ever right now.

But I think Joy was badly served by the guy she hired to investigate these posts; he came out with a bunch of ludicrous poorly sourced claims, and got instantly called out for them. And it’s being attributed to Joy now, because she accepted his reports.

Apparently the guy was recommended by Malcolm Nance, which is disappointing because the guy is a yahoo who has no idea what he’s talking about. I hope Joy didn’t pay him too much.

But she should have simply owned and apologized for those posts like she did with the original ones that came out. Trying to claim “hacking” made it much worse because unless you have really good evidence for a claim like that you just… shouldn’t. It doesn’t smell right to people.

I hope she’ll take this course now and disavow that “investigation.” I think it’s the only thing that might save her career.

And… saying that, I also think it’s just disgusting the way she’s been targeted by the puritopian left and Glenn Fucking Greenwald.

An interesting thread with Joan Walsh’s take:
