I realize it may seem small compared to the “hanging” item, but Kevin Williamson is also the guy that threw everybody struggling with opiod addiction and poverty in Kentucky under the fucking bus by accusing them of being entitled and wanting handouts and having a sick culture that…well, you know the rest because it’s the coded language used to dismiss black folks as deserving of their suffering.

And there was his dogwhistle-filled, in-dialect piece about being yelled at by a child in East St. Louis.

This man is not intelligent, nor observant, and barely gets over the Buckley-hurdle of couching his prejudices in larger words. That he worked for National Review is a representation that it has continued to wear the hollowed-out carcass of erudition and analysis while providing exactly the same fallacy-dense, pseudo-intellectual pap that sustains the Breitbart readership.

He’s yet another “anti-Trump” figure that objects on aesthetic grounds—preferring burlesque to the donkey show—while indulging in the same bad faith, the same self-indulgent conflation of “reality” and “my hurt feelings and insecurities.” He yet another “conservative” who’s grasp of tradition extends as far as pillaging the past to finds excuses to impose his wants on others. Meaner, stupider David Brooks.

The Atlantic should be embarrassed.
