Both The Prisoner and Star Trek turned 50 this month. My dad would be 102 years old (his birthday was the 7th). I think he’d be surprised that both shows, which we watched together on the TV, are still fondly remembered — Star Trek perhaps more so than The Prisoner.

I started watching original Star Treks on Netflix. It is fun noting all the firsts: the first guy in a red shirt to beam down with Kirk and get killed, the first time Enterprise fires its phasers and photon torpedoes, the first “He’s dead, Jim!”, etc…
